But with that in mind, and in light of my last post, I began to wonder what should I put on my bucket list. I have alread y sky dived and bungee jump. I have gone back to school and found the profession that I feel I was meant to be. I have conquered alot of garbage from the past and continue to enjoy life. Are there things, that would require me to leave my family behind while I go out and do them? I decided to google Bucketlists and came up with some interesting questions and sites listed below...there really are a multitude of of ideas as to the best way to go about it, things to consider, frames of mind to strive for when writing it out. As I mull over things I will add them to a side bar. But when thinking about the following questions:
1. What simple things have you always wanted to try? I have always wanted to try to ice skate. I also have always wanted to make a fancy desert with a fancy pan i.e., springform pans or the little dishes cruets(?)
2. What have you always wanted to learn? Languages? Dances? Any particular recipes? I have learned sign language, but would like to better my use of it. Gaelic tickles my fancy right now. Dancing is always been something I have wanted to do...gliding across the dance floor in a big floaty dress has a great appeal for me.
3. Which places would you most like to visit on vacation? I would love to be a world traveler...but alas money is not a plentiful product in my life. If I had to pick one country would be Italy or maybe Greece. I love the idea of the way of life there, laid back and taking time to enjoy the good things in life.
4. What sports/activities/hobbies have you always wanted try and just haven't? Again, I would love to try ice skating. But I would also like to learn to kayak. Hobby wise, I already do everything I would like to...I would just like to become more proficient with sewing and knitting.
5. What major sporting events do you enjoy? How about experiencing that in person? I enjoy a good foot ball game and would love to have tickets to the Civil War game between U of O and OSU. Season tickets to U of O games would also be a dream to have.
6. Have you ever wanted to do anything extreme? I have done the extreme things that I have wanted to with skydiving and bungee jumping...I would totally do them again.
7. Are the any celebrities in particular that you'd like to meet? I am not really into the whole met the celebrity thing. I can't really think of one that I would like to meet. There are several semi celebrities I would like to meet such as the Dali Lama, President Obama.
8. What kind contributions would you like to make? I would love to have an impact on the lives that I come in contact no matter what age. I want them to believe in themselves, and attempt to be the people they are supposed to be.
9. What charities are you most moved to support? There are so many charities that truly have the possibility of having a great impact on the betterment of lives. Often I feel that administration gets in the way. I do strongly support such charities that work toward the betterment of lives, whether it be in finding cures for such wicked diseases such as cancer and childhood diseases or those that help improve the dignity of others i.e., habitat for humanity or those that help with making sure that all people have access to good water.
10. If you were a millionaire, what would you be doing right now? Is there any of those things you can do/start now regardless of money? Right now, I would be traveling and volunteering in 3rd world countries. Could I do that now...again financially no but I know that I can do some things to help improve the lives of the kids and seniors I work with better.

The first items on your bucket list should be things that you plan to complete or accomplish in the next five years. A 5 year plan that spells out important things to do in short period of time. These things will be career directed such as getting a promotion, reaching a higher pay scale, or changing careers to increase annual income. This part of your life is where you will do your soul searching. My bucket list isn't all about climbing
mountains . You have to prepare for that climb and that means getting the right gear, knowledge, and being able to afford to travel.
- Step 2
The next 15-20 years portion of the bucket list should be things that you plan to do when your 18-40 years of age. These things could be something like sky diving, having kids, or getting a college degree. Take calculated risks but don't try to be so extreme that you miss out on other things on your bucket list. The goal is to live a long happy life with plenty of fulfillment.
- Step 3
If your over the hill so to speak or 40+ years of age then I suggest setting your goals towards things like travel, foods, and culture oriented exploration. Visit another country, try some ethnic foods and new types of drinks. See the parts of the world you haven't had a chance to see in the first 40 years of your life. You only get one life so make it count.
- Assess your situation. Are you in serious need of making a list of things to do before you die? Do you have an inkling on when you will die? If yes, all the more reason to get started now. If no, why put it off?
- Write out the first draft of your list. Start with basic things; I.E., Climb a Mountain, Write a Song, Kiss in the Rain, etc.
- Consider your finances. Can you afford all of these things? What can wait until later(when you can afford it, that is). Money is the second biggest hurdle in making a Bucket List.
- Consider your physical state. Can you really climb a rock wall without using any ropes? Do you think you can handle running a Marathon? This is the biggest hurdle.
- Write a second, more revised draft. Look it over. Find a friend to do the list with. Pool your resources and you can do things that you wouldn't be able to do alone.
- IF YOU COMPLETE THE LIST BEFORE YOU ARE DONE LIVING IT UP! Don't worry. Make a new list. Make it crazy. Do what you want, because nobody can stop you.
Tips for Creating Your Kickass Lifestyle List
- Write everything down that comes to your mind without worrying how you’ll accomplish it
- The main things that “might” keep you from doing the things on your list are money, and the time to do them. So guess what, if you want to accomplish everything on your list your gonna have to either make more money or free up more time. Why not do both at the same time.
- If you don’t have at least 100 items yet, keep creating your list… this is important !
- After you have at least 100 items on your list start going through your list and figuring out which ones to do first
- After you have picked 1 or 2 items to complete on your list go do them or set a deadline for when you’ll go do them. If you find a lot of the things on your list mainly deal with travel, money and time, learn new ways of making money or creating wealth and freeing up more of your time.
- We all have bad habits and behaviors. Create rituals in your life to set yourself up for success. Setting rituals will make you more productive, more balanced, and free up more of your time. Use that extra time then to learn how to create wealth. The key is setting rituals for every area of your life that will help lead you to doing the things on your list.
- Go over your list once a week and keep asking, how can I do X…. instead of making excuses.
- Be willing to step out of your comfort zone. Staying in your comfort zone is a fine way to never accomplish anything in your life. PROGRESS is the one of the biggest things we all want in life. To progress, we usually have to step out of our comfort zone.
Although I don’t currently have kids, I would encourage your kids if you have any to create a Kickass Lifestyle list early on as kids don’t hold anything back and it will help set them up for success later on.
