Ah, the sunny days went so quick, and now it is back to the typical rainy days of an Oregon Spring.
Today was a typical day at work. Saw my small schools. I enjoy my Tuesday and Wednesdays as I get to see my kids by myself without the assistant. I love the excitement and the silliness they provide in my life and they are not inhibited. Today discussion topics ranged from how outhouses are different from lighthouse to hidden rules. It is always such a joy. Then I had an IEP meeting. The kid does not qualify for services but Mom is insistent that he stay in speech. His issues are not from speech but more from ADHD. His brain moves so fast that his speech can be garbled. His mother admitted that in the past she had other kids translate what he said. He does play a lazy card, but I am not sure he is lazy. I think it is mainly due to his busy brain! I know that parents want the best for their kids but I get a bit frustrated when parents lay it on the teachers shoulders and do not help at home. Kids spend more time with parents then with me. They are ultimately the students teacher. Man up folks!
