today's finds

This week end has been a nice and relaxing one for the most part. DH is a bit stressed as he does try to do his best for the students but sometimes allows what he perceives as his inadequacies to overcome him. He worries that his students aren't getting his best.  While is it sweet, I think that one of the great things in life is the continual learning we do. As a teacher, it isn't about what or how much you know and can stuff into student's heads, but about how you can light the fire that makes the students want to extend themselves beyond the classroom and seek knowledge.

At any rate, yesterday we spent the time playing in the tulip fields in Wilsonville. Talk about an explosion of color!  There were tulips of every color imaginable and some not so imaginable. It was really interesting to see how some folks dressed i.e., high heels and hose (Come on folks, this is a farm) to native dress from India, Pakistan and other Indian countries. Of course there was the circus of languages heard also.  It truly was an amazing outing. Afterwards we stopped to see son 2 on the way home and help him with a couple of computer issues. We enjoyed having dinner with him and listening to his day to day events.

Today I ran away to the Friends of the Eugene Library Sale.  I was a bit disappointed in that while there were still tons of books, it had been picked over pretty thoroughly.  The children's section was slim with some rather ratty books. The only large section was the romance section, not a section I was particularly into. I admit, I do love a good love story now and then, I prefer more suspenseful reads.  I also went with the thought that I wanted to find books with a message or a human story, but again, many of those were picked over.  I will continue to do my book searches in the Goodwills and St V's tho...for me it truly is the thrill of the hunt.
